18-year-old Nick Laird is part of the all-state band during the Texas Music Educators Association meeting. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Laird of 5716 Midway and has been playing the alto saxophone for six years. He plays first chair at Birdville and is drum major for the band. Fort Worth Star-Telegram Evening edition January 29, 1960.
