Description
McKinley Jones, Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) flight engineer, is shown at the instrument board of a specially equipped Douglas DC-3 (DC-3), which cruises five states of the Southwest, keeping sky highways in repair by testing radio beacons, instrument glide paths for pilots to use in fog or rain in landing on airports, and otherwise keeping wrinkles smoothed out of the federal airways system.
