Alice Ward of the Business Office shred her birthday cake at an informal gathering in the cafeteria. Pictured (left to right) are: Virginia Welsh, Mabel McCall, Ann Cates, Mabel Williams, Allegra Fleener, Alice Ward, Billie Sheppard, Anna McLendon, Joyce Geeslin, Nell Lewis, and Margaret Morton. Alice found the cake and a stack of birthday cards on her desk when she returned from lunch. She very generously shared her cake, but to no one would she divulge the number of candles on it. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition March , 1951.
