Image shows a ribbon ceremony on Whitney Dam. Congressman W. R. Poage, Waco, applies scissors to a ribbon marking the opening of traffic on State Highway 22 across the top of Whitney Dam. Poage's mother, Mrs. W. A. Poage, is left and Congressman Olin E. Teague, College Station, is on far right. Behind Mrs. Poage is George G. Chance, Bryan, Chairman of the Brazos River Conservation and Reclamation District. At Poage's right is William P. Hallmark, Dublin foreground, Brazos district secretary, W. W. Siddons, Hillsboro, Dr. Silas W. Grant, president of Whitney Chamber of Commerce and Mrs. W. R. Poage. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 5, 1951.
