Description
Image shows Sam Lanham of Everman, left, as he welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Felix Gwozd and their daughter, Lillian, when they arrived in Fort Worth. Lanham's parents helped to bring the polish family to the United States through the National Catholic Welfare Conference. The Gwozds were considered 'displaced persons' or 'DPs', a term that refers to the more than 250,000 Jewish people that from 1945 to 1952, lived in camps and urban centers administered by Allied authorities and the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA), in Germany, Austria, and Italy. Published in the morning edition, February 26, 1951.
