Description

Brigadier General C. S. Irvine, second from the left, is shown beaming in approval as Covair Manager A. C. Esenwein, far left, hands a commendation plaque to Colonel Richard T. Black, commander of the 7th Bomb Group at Carswell Air Base. Similar plaques were presented to Colonel Calvin W. Fite, Jr., second from the right, formerly the commander of the 436th Bomb Squardron, and Colonel William R. Calhoun Jr., far right, deputy commander of the 11th Bomb group. The plaques were given as recognition of record-making B-36 performance during the previous month. Published in the morning edition, February 16, 1951.
