Al W. Hamill of Tulsa, who drilled the discovery well at Spindletop, and his wife, who are visiting their daughter, Mrs. Bert K. Smith Jr., 2005 Warner rd. They're en route to Beaumont for the 50th anniversary celebration of the bringing in of the Lucas gusher, which opened Spindletop. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition January 5, 1951.
