Description
Set off by Carswell Air Base demolition experts in an open field, a crude bomb removed from Leroy (Tincy) Eggleston's car throws a near-75-foot column into the air. The bomb's eruption was caught at its height by Photographer John Mazziotta, who, ignoring warnings to stay behind demolition men some 350 feet away, got his picture while lying prone 25 yards from the bomb blast. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, November 23, 1950.
