Mary Parker, holding 3-year-old Laura Hewlett, goes on with a WBAP-TV March of Dimes program at City County Hospital a few moments after the death of a 5-year-old polio patient. Little Laura is blowing out the candles on her birthday cake. Other little patients were Jimmy Ballard, 3, left, and Donald Eugene Powell, 6.
