Jay Smith, left, of Poly, and Hugh Hamm of Decatur Baptist College head for the canvas in a tangle of arms in the first round of the novice welter bout at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Hamm scored a second round knockout and later fought Billy Hunter of the Cleburne team. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 20, 1950.
