Six of the 100 new teachers in Fort Worth Public School system are here in an orientation conference with Miss Maidee Tompson, experienced teacher, back to camera. Left to right, are Mrs. Douglas Lane, a newcomer from Terrell, assigned to North Hill Mount; Miss Mary Agnes Oakes, Shreveport, Springdale; Miss Billie Adams, Hillsboro, Mrs. Charles E. Nash; Miss Virginie Hill, McKinney, Tandy; Miss Cherrie Jo Howard at Riverside Elementary, and Miss Toinette Futrell, Forney, D. McRae. This typical of the conferences being held at DeZavala School in a five-day "get-acquainted" program preliminary. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition August 30, 1950.
