17-year-olds, Miss Lena Mary Scully of 2508 Yucca, left, and Miss Helen Spurr, of 216 North Judkins, right, are shown as they register with Grady Clark at the Riverside Lions Club luncheon for entrance in the western queen contest. The contest was to be held as a part of the club's fourth annual carnival, held in Sylvania Park. Published in the morning edition, August 12, 1950.
