Description
For the first time that year, (1950), the recreation department offered a trophy award to the most outstanding performance in its sponsored intra-city one-act play contest, held at the North Side Recreation Building. Winning top performer, was 11-year-old Woodie Neal, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Neal, of 1121 Purselley Avenue. Woodie played the part of the queen in the children's division blue ribbon play, "The Princess Who Couldn't Dance", put on by Handley Playground. Published in the evening edition, August 2, 1950.
