    Description

    This half-track served as command post for the 49th Reconnaissance battalion during a tactical exercise at North Fort Hood where the 49th Armored Division, Texas National Guard, is encamped. Captain Jack McFerran of Gainesville watches while Sgt. 1st Class Woodrow Thompson, of 9025 Oels, makes a radio transmission. Barely visible at Thompson's right, kneeling, is Sergeant J. T. Underwood of Azle, monitoring a radio channel. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition July 20, 1950.
