Description

Image shows Dr. Jesse Lawrence Ward seated in his home with a book in lap. He retired in June as active president of Decatur Baptist College, from 1900 to 1907 and then from 1914 to retirement but has stayed on as president emeritus and work on endowments. He has never earned a degree but was given two honorary degrees: Master of Arts from Baylor and Doctor of Divinity from Hardin-Simmons. Dr. Ward was remarried in 1914. He has one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Reed of New Orleans, by his first wife and another, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Kincaid, by his second wife.
