Pictured is a portion of the 100,000 bales of cotton raised in Hockley County in 1953, being loaded onto trucks for hauling to the Levelland compress. The cotton, all from irrigated land, is being shipped to Galveston. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition June 3, 1954.
