The photograph shows Champion Creek near Seven Wells, the place south of Colorado City where buffalo used to water. The U. S. Geological Survey agency built the cable car line pictured at left to facilitate measuring the creek's water flow. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition April 4, 1954.
