Description

Described by a U. S. Army officer in 1849, the Sand Hills near Monahans still bring exclamations of wonder and delight from visitors. It is hoped to convert a large tract of this wind-sculptured pure sand into a state park. The picture was made only a few miles from U. S. Highway 80. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition January 31, 1954.
