    Description

Unidentified little girl abandoned by parents, in Tarrant County Children's Home. The little girl waited and watched and waited and watched, but her father did not come. Two years prior, the father brought her to one of the children's homes in Tarrant County. He said his wife had deserted the family, and after a period of trying to care for the couple's only child - a pretty 6-year-old girl - he, too, had given up. She was so sure he would return, she would wait for him at the door. Weeks passed, and not once did she stop hoping, but her father did not return. Through the co-operation of the Volunteer Center, a Big Brother - Big Sister Program was instigated at the home through which the companionship of another could fill lonely spots. Soon on visitors' day, a "big sister" came to see the little girl, a TCU student. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition October 4, 1959.
