    Description

Man Rewarded for Aid in Capture of Robber Dow Hestand probably would be the first to admit that he's about as qualified in tracking down criminals as a chinchilla is in teaching dancing. However, Hestand was presented a $100 savings account Monday in the State Bank of East Fort Worth for enabling police to make a quick arrest of the man who robbed the bank Friday of $2,180. Hestand, a Civil Defense radio operator who has an apartment at 920 Conner, heard a police broadcast describing the getaway car. J. L. Henson, the robber, resided in a small house behind the apartment in which Hestand lived. Remembering that Henson had a car answering the description, Hestand telephone police who went to the apartment and made an easy arrest. Making the presentation was J. H. Reddoch, executive vice president of the bank. Hestand, 24, who resides with his wife and three children, said he plans to expand the account and eventually build a home. He was a grocery store employee before beginning work for the city in June. "The outcome of that phone call to headquarters," Hestand reated, "was probably about as much of a surprise to me as it was to the teller who was robbed."
