Allied Mills Leaders Attend Session Here Top officials of Allied Mills Inc., of Chicago were here Monday to attend a Universal Mills Inc., district sales meeting. The Chicago firm recently purchased Universal. About 40 Universal salesman, branch and store managers from Texas and Louisiana are attending the meeting which is being held at Hotel Texas. E. D. Griffin of Chicago, vice president and general sales manager of Allied, said the firm is "quite optimistic about the furture of Universal since Texas has always been considered one of our leading agricultural states." At the two-day sales meeting, Griffin said Universal employees will be introduced to Allied's methods. The Chicago firm which now owns 12 mills operating for 34 states east of the Rocky Mountains is finishing its biggest year in point of sales, Griffin said. December was the most successful month in the company's history, he said. Other Allied executives attending the meeting include E. W. Lenz of Chicago, president; Dr. J. E. Hunter of Chicago, vice president and director of research; George McCarthy of Atlanta, GA., southern regional sales manager, and John L. Richardson, general marketing and sales promotion manager from Chicago. Universal executives include J. M. Bird of Fort Worth, district sales manager. At the meeting Monday it was announced that Keith J. Peck of 5608 Walla will be the manager of the plant here. Keith formerly was an Allied plant manager in Omaha.
