Description

Youth-for-Traffic-Safety Group Takes Psycho-Physical Tests The Youth-for-Traffic-Safety Conference took a turn for the practical Thursday afternoon as members went through tests on psycho-physical training equipment at the administration building of the public schools. Equipment consisted of devices used to determine the ability of a drive, including judgment of a distance, sight and the speed with which he can stop a car. In charge of the tests were Larry Graff of the Fort Worth Safety Council; Norman Burns, safety officer of the Fort Worth police department, and Ray Blankenship, safety officer for this area, Texas Department of Public Safety. This was the first time members of the conference had taken the test. A request was made by Mike Lobb to have the equipment placed at Technical High School for testing of members of the Safe-Teen Club of Tech. Dates for the test tentatively are set for January 12-16. Dean Spurlock, co-chairan of the Youth-for-Traffic-Safety Conference, presided at the meeting. Plans were discussed for a driver's "roadeo," sometime early next year. The roadeo consists of behind-the-wheel tests used by large trucking firms in testing their drivers. The safety conference for youth in Fort Worth is sponsored by the Safety Council and the Rotary Club.
