Description

Human Ailment Dog's Life It's really a dog's life when you can't celebrate Christmas with the family, but have to spend the holidays in the hospital instead. Penny, 4-yer-old dachshund owned by Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Chizum of 325 Rivercrest Drive underwent surgey for a ruptured discan ailment comparable to a slipped discin the backbone of humansearly this month. Her doctors have build a harness with wheel to support her paralyzed legs so that she may visit other patients at the clinic, and to encourage her to develop the muscles in the forelegs and back. Daily physiotherapy treatments, including hot baths, massage and drugs, supplement the exercise harness. Penny may regain the use of her legs within three months if she responds properly to treatment, a veternarian said. The pet has been with the Chizums since she was flown to Fort Worth from California as a pup. Though she may be released from the clinic in time for New Year's, Penny still isn't satisfied. It's her first Christmas away from home and the family fun with the Chizum grandchildren.
