Hospital Gift in Memory of Patient A memorial gift in honor of Barry Todd, 15-year-old muscular dystrophy victim, who died February 13, was given Tuesday to Peter Smith Hospital by members of Lambda Chapter of Delta Rho Delta, national business women's sorority. The $450 will be used to furnish a room in the hospital where the youth was treated during the final stages of his illness. "Barry was one of the first muscular dystrophy patients treated at the hospital, and we deeply appreciated the fine care, graciousness and friendliness of the personnel there," his mother said. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard O. Todd of 2600 Avenue H. Presentation of the check was made to Administrator George Brotherton by Miss Janelle Lindley, sorority social service chairman. The money was collected by the group through charity events dating back to several months after the youth's death. Barry, who developed muscular dystrophy when he was 8, was noted for the courage and cheerfulness that he maintained throughout his illness. Forced to drop out of Carroll peak Schoool when he was 10, the boy took classwork at home by special assignment and practiced art through a correspondence course, as well as making frequent appearances in campaigns to fight muscular dystrophy. The hospital room is scheduled to be furnished by February and will bear a bronze door plaque honoring Barry.
