Description
Boy Born Prematurely Overcomes High Odds Two and one-half years ago, when Dean Everett Decker was born prematurely, his parents were told that the baby's chances of living a normal life were about one in a thousand. Saturday, now a husky 28-pounder, Dean had his blond locks sheared on his first trip to a barber shop. The child, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Decker of 4825 Westridge, weighed 2 pounds 4 ounces when he first touched the scales about two weeks after birth. After the first seven weeks, which he spent in an air lock, isolette and an incubator at Harris Hospital, Dean had gained about five pounds. The parents then were permitted to take Dean home, where his health improved rapidly.
