Description

800 Make Military Dance About 400 future military leaders and 400 of their dates crowded into Cobb Park Armory last Friday night for the all-city ROTC Christmas dance. Dancing to high fidelity phonograph records and combo music, the couples kept going from 2000 to 2330 hours (8 to 11:30 P. M. in civilian talk). During the dance the All-City Queen was presented along with five runners-up. The queen, selected by a board of city military leaders, was Patty Schmid of Polytechnic High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Schmid of 2521 Oakland. The queen's court included Linda Bell of Paschal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Bell of 4800 Lowell Lane; Jill Harper of Amon Carter Riverside, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Harper of 2140 W. Lotus; Sharon Kay Rodgers of North Side, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Rodgers of 1302 Lagonda; Patricia Nunery of Arlington Heights, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Nunery of 4236 Calmont, and Mary Barley of Technical, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Barley of 4301 Penrose. The queen will not be crowned officially until the spring formal. However, she reigned over the Christmas dance with All-City Cadet Colonel Andres Yberra of Technical. ROTC faculty members presented honorary commissions to sponsors of units in the various high schools during another ceremony at the dance.
