A hand grenade that exploded prematurely during a mop-up operation against the Japanese on Guadalcanal blasted the right hand of Lee C. Hail but failed to alter his plans to follow a mechanical profession. As a handicapped veteran he has worked in a number of plants, but likes his present job as a production lathe and radial drill press operator at Fort Worth Steel and Machinery Company
