Star-Telegram photographers scored a clean sweep in the still-picture division at the first annual news awards dinner sponsored by the Fort Worth Fire Fighters Association at Hotel Texas. Paul Fontaine, left, Fire Chief, presents awards to Doyle Vinson, center, news director accepting the awards for the TV staff, and Joe McAulay, Star-Telegram photographer and first place winner in the Photo Division. McAulay received a $50 prize for a series of pictures showing a brick wall toppling over on firemen who were battling a blaze at the vacated Carpenter Paper Company a year prior. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition October 8, 1958.
