Description
Miss Mary Jo Smith, a Junior at Texas Christian University and a Physics and Mathematics major, spent the summer working in the Army ballistic missile program at Redstone, Alabama. She was one of some 200 summer employees chosen from 1,000 applicants for summer jobs in the missile program. Only 18 women were chosen. One of Miss Smith's projects was calculating infrared radiation on an object in space--how much sunlight hits an orbiting satellite. At TCU, she is a laboratory assistant and secretary in the Physics Department. She is a member of Alpha Chi honorary scholastic society, Parabola math club, and TCU Physical Society. She is also a member of American Rocket Society.
