Description
Education Gives Rootage to Life, Graduates Told - The world outside the college walls is vastly different. It is a testing ground, Rev. Philip W. Walker told Texas Wesleyan College's summer graduates in an address in Polytechnic Methodist Church, Friday night. The superintendent of the Sherman-McKinney District of the Methodist Church said a college education is worth all the time and money it costs an individual, for then he is fitted with a mind "to go into the world rather than have the world go into his mind." Rootage that comes from education makes life significant,he said, since there "can be no fruit without good rootage." He added that without an educated mind the "doors of yesterday remain closed" but through education, personality and character is developed.
