Description
Bear Offense Can Go, Says Boyd at Banquet - Same Boyd told members of the Fort Worth Baylor Club Friday night that the 1958 Bear Football team probably would have an improved offense but that on defense it would be weaker than in 1957. The Bears' head coach was speaker at a Hotel Texas banquet. Boyd explained the workings of the new offensive system he is installing at Baylor this year, a multiple wing-T, and said he expected the Bears to be able to move the ball with it. However, he pointed to heavy losses by graduation and the lack of depth as weakening the Baylor defense. Boyd and Graves Blanton, secretary of the Baylor Ex-Students Association, were speakers. Elvin E. Tackett was elected president of the Fort Worth Baylor Club, succeeding Loyd Turner. Will L. Rodgers was elected vice-president and Mrs. Vergal Bourland is the new secretary-treasurer.
