Description
Luncheon Given for Fifteen Future Priests - Fifteen young men studying for the Catholic priesthood were honored at the sixth annual seminarians' luncheon given by the Fort Worth Serra Club Wednesday at Hotel Texas. The students, who range from a subdeacon in fourth year theology to grade school graduates entering high school, were introduced by Monsignor Joseph P . Erbrick, club chaplain. "Here we have," Monsignor Erbrick said, "the practical, actual and realistic effects of the diocesan vocation program and the assistance give by this group of men in their support and encouragement of religious vacations." Chairman of the event was Jerome Parker of 3775 Cornish. Senior seminarian present was Rev. Mr. Joseph Scantlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Scantlin of 6417 Meadowbrook Drive. He will be ordained a priest next spring after finishing his fourth year of theology at Assumption Seminary at San Antonio. Youngest prospective seminarian was John Robert Lopez III, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Lopez Jr. of 912 Banks. John, 13, was graduated in May from St. Thomas Parochial School and will enter St. John's Minor Seminary at San Antonio in September.
