Description
New Church Dedicated - The new McKinney Memorial Church at 5401 Woodway Lane was dedicated Sunday to advancing the cause of Christ and serving the community in a sermon by Dr. John F. Walvoord, president of the Dallas Theological Seminary. Dr. Walvoord, former pastor of Rosen Heights Presbyterian Church here, said that "the first duty of this memorial church is to exalt Christ" but added that it also is in a position to serve people of the community in many ways. Rev. S. T. McKinney, 92-year-old Congregational minister for whom the church was named, gave the dedicatory prayer. The new structure, which cost $40,000 and has worship and educational facilities to accommodate 200, is the first of a four-unit building program. Rev. Wendell G. Johnson is pastor and building committee members are W. N. Garrison, chairman, William Brubaker, William Heidbrier, Harold Hults and H. B. Webb.
