Description

Members of the Business and Professional Women's Class of Polytechnic Baptist Church honored Mrs. Rowena E. Gentry, 3105 Avenue H, their class founder and former teacher, Friday on her 88th birthday. The party was given at the home of Mrs. Mary Benson, 825 Marion. Mrs. Velma White, 2911 Thannisch, vice president of the class was chairman of arrangements for the party. Mrs. Gentry was born at Sendalia, Missouri. While she was teaching school at Hamilton she met and married George N. Gentry, a lawyer, in 1894, and they later moved to Pecos. he died in 1917 and a year later she came to Fort Worth. She taught in Fort Worth schools from 1918 until 1936. From 1923 until 1936 she was a teacher in the William James Elementary School.
