Description

William R. Sarsgard, Opposes Income Tax - Public debate on City Tax fails to clear up details. A public hearing Wednesday afternoon bogged down in a muddle of confusion over details of how the tax will be administered. Adjourning the session after three hours of grueling debate, Mayor McCann urged City Council members to be ready by Friday to agree on a simplified tax plan that can be submitted to voters in the form of an amendment to the city charter. The confusion arose over the question of whether a resident of Fort Worth who earns wages or salary outside the city should have to pay the income tax.
