Description
Mrs. Warren A. Flynn of 1101 Gambrel, who is tired of a guest in her chimney, hopes quite fervently that the creature will be taken into custody Saturday morning. Dale E. Logston, who is tired of wild goose chases, hopes just as strongly that the animal will prove to be one of two ocelots which escaped from him June 6 near Midwest Airport. One of the cats was killed June 21 in a capture attempt, but the other has never been recovered. Logston, the blind proprietor of Wild Animal Enterprises, 4704 Jean, has been chasing hither and yon since the animals got away, following up ocelot-sighting reports. The description provided by Rev. Mr. Flynn, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist Church, sounds like that of the missing ocelot, which was wearing a collar. The creature in the Flynn's chimney has a collar. The pastor finally was induced to crawl up on the roof and look down the chimney with a flashlight Friday morning. Those yellow eyes looking at him didn't belong to a bird. The Flynns got in touch with Logston, who promised to come out at 9 A. M. Saturday. Until then, the chimney top will remain covered with wire. One attempt to chase out the animal failed Friday. An officer from Animal Control Shelter borrowed a Collie from the pound and lowered it down the chimney on a rope. The dog was supposed to scare the cat into leaving. The two animals only eyed each other stonily, and the dog was hauled back out.
