Description
R. L. Mims is not at home enough to keep house but he probably knows more about it than most Fort Worth housewives. He is rounding out 50 years dealing with linens, domestics, bedding and piece goods at Monnig's the first three years as a salesman and since then as a buyer. The job is enough to keep him away from home. He has not taken a day of sick leave in that 50 years. During the last 40 years he has made frequent trips to New York in order to bring Fort Worth housewives the latest in goods. He has helped a lot of women in that length of time and he is one man who knows what they like. Mims finds, for example, that many women prefer fitted sheets now and predicts that at the flat sheets in few years. He has seen women shift their preference to high color towels because of the increased use of color in the bathrooms of modern Fort Worth homes. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition September 8, 1954.
