Description
Reverend John B. Streater who is Smithfield Baptist Church's new pastor has a background that includes service in the Navy as an enlisted man and as an officer and five years as a missionary to China, the last two years under Communist domination. He still remembers the humiliation he and his family were subjected to by the communists although he has been out of China nearly three years. They made their way out of Szechuan in rickshas, traveling the 40 miles to the next city in snowstorm. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition August 7, 1954.
