Description
For the first time in the history of AMVETS in Texas, a woman, Miss Mae Thompson of 1120 Scenic Ct., has been elected state commander. The new commander entered the Navy as a Wave in 1944 and was engaged in secret communication work in Washington as a teletype operator until the war's end. She has been awarded a life membership in the AMVETS for past work as a state adjutant, and has been a member since 1946. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
