Texas Christian University's Bob White makes mighty effort to beat throw with slide at first base but it is too late as Southern Methodist University First Baseman, Jim Payne takes peg from Shortstop, Kermit Cummings in Southwest Conference game at Texas Christian University. Action came in eighth inning of opening game of season. Mustangs won with rally, 4-3. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition March 27, 1954.
