Dub Kelly, right, who will be Cheek's opponent comes close with an overhand right against Sid Pettigrew of Alvarado. Kelly won on a TKO in the first round. The Cheek-Kelly bout will be one of 45 as the Star-Telegram's 18th annual tournament heads toward a climax. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning January 18, 1954.
