Mrs. W. A. Pierce and daughter, Carlye, sailed from Seattle for Japan to join their husband and father, Lieutenant Colonel Pierce. Mrs. Pierce lived here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Swett, 5915 Craig. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Pierce, 2232 College Avenue, are Carlye's paternal grandparents.
