Patrolman F. D. Garnett, right, receives a special diamond-studded gold badge from chief C. S. Hightower after being named "Policeman of the Month" for August. Garnett was chosen for the honor with his partner, J. E. Keith, after they aroused guests at a hotel threatened by fire.
