Description
Dr. Georg Ahrens, 62 , the oldest in the service got his appointment in 1914. He is visiting his son, Dr. Tino Ahrens, physicist at Convair. The foreign enovy is on his way to a new post in Ceylon, represents the West German government, but is well aware of what is going on across the line in East Germany. The Soviet Union controls East Germany and the Allied powers occupy West Germany. East Germans have been staging crippling strikes against the Russian since June 17. The Soviet Union proposes to give East Germany food which is scarce, in return for manufactured goods. Ahrens is leaving his consular post in Atlanta, Georgia to the Ceylon ministry.
