    Sergeants 1st class Oscar Stroope of Waxahachie, left, and James T. Hale of Arlington assumed the regulation protective positions on the 60 mm mortar range at North Fort Hood just before the trajectory "rocket cannon" fired. They're members of the National Guard's 145th Armored Infantry Battalion, 49th Armored Division, now training here.
