Miss Pauline Rippy, an instructor at Texas Christian University spent the summer working under a grant-in-aid from the Carnegie Foundation, writing a book on Oil Field language. Miss Rippy traveled hundreds of miles over Texas oil country compiling data for her research from men in the fields. Miss Rippy sits on the floor at the center of the image.
