Description

Sir Geoffrey Prior is leaning his elbows on a fireplace. Clipping published in the in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, April 8, 1953 reads: "Sir Geoffrey Prior, former British administrator in India, will arrive here Thursday [April 9, 1953] for speeches to the English-Speaking Union and Downtown Rotary Club. Sir Geoffrey, a native of India, was governor of Baluchistan in 1946 and held that post during the partition of India. Three years later he became resident director of the British Bank of Iran and the Middle East. He will be speaking at a meeting of the union at 8 p.m. Thursday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Casey, 605 Eastwood. Friday [April 10, 1953], he will address Rotarians at noon at Hotel Texas." Clipping published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, April 10, 1953, reads: "Diplomat visits here: Free world must hold Middle East, Briton says: "The free world can not hope to wine a war against the Iron Curtain bloc of nations without holding the Middle East, Sir Geoffrey Prior, a veteran British foreign office career man, said here Thursday [April 9, 1953] night. Sir Geoffrey, who has spent most of his 56 years in the turbulent Middle East, arrived here to attend a meeting of the English-Speaking Union Thursday night and to address the Fort Worth Rotary Club at Hotel Texas Friday [April 10, 1953] noon."
