Excavation began Thursday at Ballinger Street for extension of the East-West Freeway from Summit to Cherry at Lancaster. The freeway will go under Ballinger Street and over Henderson. Ballinger Street was closed at 9 a. m. Thursday for approximately 10 months. Henderson Street will remain open during construction. Summit is in the background.
