Description
The Red Cross this week gave the federal government the biggest weapon in history to help the United States fight polio epidemics this year. This was revealed in Fort Worth by Dr. Sam Gibson of Washington, associate director of the American Red Cross blood bank program. The weapon is 240,000 doses of gamma globulin, a derivative of blood plasma that is believed to be highly effective in preventing polio paralysis. The Red Cross turned over to the government, Dr. Gibson said, "all the globulin it had".
