Lubbock will pin its hope on Jimmy Welch, 185-pound fullback shown being brought down by Carl McGee and an unidentified North Dallas teammate after a short gain. Welch is one of five Westerners who made the all-state offensive or defensive teams. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition December 17, 1952.
